I Was Down To My Last Time
I had lived my life down in such sorrow
That I had little chance of seeing tomorrow.
Darkness and pain was all that was mine
It was then I knew, that this was my last time.
When I had fallen as low as I could
Then I saw our Lord up high on the wood.
I knew it was for me, that He hung on that tree
My life was to change, for from the cross He looked at me.
It matters not how low you have fallen
And where ever you are, you'll hear me calling.
I'll lift you up one step at a time
And your life will be saved, because I gave you mine.
My Lord gave His life so I could go free
But I don't have to pay what He paid for me.
When I reach that city that I can call mine
Then I'll see my Lord for the first time.
If we'll stop and think how we got where
we are
And of our dear Lord, who kept us from the fire.
Then well understand when there is no more time
Why our Lord went down, for our souls to find.
