THE RESTING PLACE

Can We Talk?

Can We Talk

With tear filled eyes I stare at the floor.
I know nothing's there, for I've been there before.
I search for a friend, so I go for a walk.
But they all turn away when I ask, Can we talk?

Now Lord I turn to you, on your name I will call.
Please hear what I say, it won't take long at all.
While others won't hear me, you'll know what I say.
Like your Father heard from the cross that day.

Chorus

Can we talk about heaven, were you wait for me?
Can we talk about Calvary, where you died on the tree?
You heard people curse, yet the hill you still walked.
Still for those who cursed you, to your Father you talked.

"Father forgive," were the words you would say.
And "It's for you I'm nailed to the cross today.
I knew this hill would be the last I walked,
And to you my child I say, "Yes, to me you can talk."

Chorus

Can we talk about heaven, were you wait for me?
Can we talk about Calvary, where you died on the tree?
You heard people curse, yet the hill you still walked.
Still for those who cursed you, to your Father you talked.

Can we talk, can we talk?

Deuteronomy 5:24
And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath
shewed us his glory and his greatness,
and we have heard his voice out of the midst
of the fire: we have seen this day that God
doth talk with man, and he liveth.
